For 23 years, Ed Sullivan hosted an American institution, "The Ed Sullivan Show". Every Sunday at 8 o'clock, America turned on their televisions to CBS to watch his live variety show, not only hoping to catch a glimpse of the established stars of popular music but also to discover new trends and up-and-coming stars. One thing that everyone could be counted on was you'd witness legendary performances that would be riveting to watch and exhilarating to hear.

Although Sullivan started his career as a journalist, he would eventually become television's most powerful host. His stage was the Promised Land for aspiring talent.
