Year after year, Ed Sullivan made Christmas the most special time of the year. With his unerring eye for talent and a finger on the pulse of what America wanted, he brought together the most beloved performers of their time and provided a national audience for them to perform their most well known hits.
This holiday special originally aired on CBS in 1992. Hosted by Bob Newhart, classic holiday performances are presented including Elvis
Presley singing "Peace in the Valley", Gene Autry doing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," the perennial "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby, The Supremes performing "My Favorite Things," plus holiday appearances by Topo Gigio, Shari Lewis, and The Baird Puppets. There are also newly recorded performances including Della Reece singing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" by Paul Anka, Johnny Mathis performing "The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year," Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing a duet on "Christmas On The Plains," and the Muppets singing "It Feels Like Christmas."
